Breen Day of Life 401
3/04/2022, erin and finn and breen, greyish bright, cold but mushy
Breen was just sitting and playing with a toy. He saw something else that he wanted, and tucked into a roll and got himself onto the floor. He shakes the new toy over his head. I roll a little train past, and he rolls onto his tummy to go for it. Scoot them farther away, and he nearrrrly commando crawls to get them. But sometimes he scoots backwards.
All in the most pleasant mood. He pulls on my hands to sit, then stands and balances on the couch. He goes bonkers for books, the way Nora thrills for a movie. Kicky legs, shaky toys. Silly sounds: Heee, daaadadadadada, Izzee, yeeeyeyaaa, NAHNAH, A dah-DIT, baghh, zzz, thhbbbt, I didiii, dzzzz. THAHH. Mm. Every so often: Lalalaaaaa.
A couple weeks ago, a tooth arrived! Breen gnaws on a cracker, a veggie straw. Wolfs his mush. Holds his own bottle of milk, no longer thickened with gel.

He waters the crib with drool. For a while he needed to be rotated out of the puddles. But lately he hikes himself away. I tape the oxygen tube to the back of his clothes, or else it wraps round and round.
Last few days (knock on wood) he has napped to beat the band! He rarely wakes up more than once at night for a sleepy drink. (Though his pulse oximeter still pitches random, false complaints.) Two nights ago, he slept straight through.
Breeny grows. Our feeding/speech therapist and our physical therapist adore him, they have been amazing members of the journey. Astounded by his progress the last couple weeks, they say he’s going to put them out of a job soon.

Nora is mostly sunny with a chance of thunderstorms. She counts everything she eats and anything in sight. She makes up stories and songs and worlds. Jon’s dad continues to feed her imagination and artistry at Grandpa school four or five (or more) days a week! They are thick as thieves. She is still gung-ho to make her brother laugh every time they are in the same room, but recently, she is a little less monomaniacal about it.

Maybe we can tiptoe back out into the world. Jon plays a gig. Goes to a restaurant. Breen gets an RSV vaccine every month. We have all stayed healthy thank God. It is the RSV we avoid, but keeping the CoCo out of the house is appreciated.

Out of moment,
thank you for love
