Just a quick update.

Breen has been home for just over a week, having been discharged last Friday the 15th. It’s heaven. It’s so sweet.

Nora is an incredible sister. She coos, plays peek-a-boo, kisses and pets him, and has asserted herself as Breen’s chief babbling interpreter. …

It’s Friday.

Breen comes home on Friday.

Still a couple things to work out, but we’re looking to get trained on the oxygen and feeding medical gear on Thursday, and spend Friday getting that little guy out of the NICU.

Out. Of. The. NICU.

The other complication…

We had our care conference yesterday with Dr. O, Breen’s pediatrician Dr. P, occupational therapist, physical therapist, bedside nurse, head nurse, and the social worker.

It was a wonderful meeting that was centered around coming up with a discharge plan. We discussed some specifics about administering breathing treatments…

The weather, that cat, our toddling cublet down the hall.

The nights here shatter, even when they’re silent.

Summer starts toppling toward fall.

In the smallest hours, I wake, and I ache the most.

I want the baby.

I admire, respect, honor, celebrate, and thank Breen’s caretakers.

But I wake, raving.

I subsume reptile…

We are now at 5 liters per minute of O2 support.

He’s doing great actually, gaining weight like crazy (he’s up into the mid 30’s percentile! He used to be 0th!), and is pleasant, joyful, and massive. Breen is now 12 lbs 9 oz!

He is well loved…

11lbs 15oz! We almost gotta 12 pounder! What a chunker. Dr. O likes to call him chub chub.
